About Boyd
Boyd received his B. S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maryland in 1982, then went to work for Shell Oil Company. At Shell, Boyd worked in the areas of modeling, real-time optimization, and control for ethylene plants, crude oil distillation and FCC. Boyd joined Dynamic Matrix Control Corporation in 1989. His activities at DMCC included leading control projects, leading real time optimization projects and managing DMCC’s real time software product – DMO. Following the acquisition of DMCC by Aspen Technology in 1996, Boyd focused on delivering the optimization projects and combining the DMO technology from DMCC with the Aspen Plus and RT-OPT technology from AspenTech. His current role is Director of Component Development in R&D. Among his responsibilities are development of physical properties, thermodynamic methods, math solvers, and simulation components.
